In the first release from our exclusive remix series, the iconic DJ-producer puts her extravagant spin on Ebo Krdum and Ooyy’s original Afro-house banger. Now available for sync and streaming.
Grammy-winning legend Honey Dijon extends her run of incredible releases with a remix of ‘Umbélé’, the 2024 track by Sudanese-Swedish artist Ebo Krdum and Stockholm-based producer Ooyy.
The spirit of the original track — a story of healing through dance and music in difficult times — is embodied by Ebo’s expressive vocals and further elevated by the relentless drive of Honey’s signature kick.
Percussion and vocal elements drift in and out of the stereo field as the relentless beat locks the listener into an ever-evolving groove.
A legend of the decks, Honey Dijon’s house, disco, and techno sets have kept dance floors moving for three decades. That’s why she’s the remixer of choice for megastars like Madonna, Lady Gaga, Dua Lipa, and Beyoncé.
“Flipping ‘Umbélé’ was a chance to sprinkle some Honey on it and share that energy with creators everywhere,” says Honey. “It’s all about freedom, fun, and keeping the groove 100%.”
“Teaming up with Epidemic Sound was a vibe — they’re shaking things up in the best way.”

ON COLLABORATING WITH EPIDEMIC SOUND ON THE EXTRA VERSION REMIX SERIES
Afro-blues master, political activist, and self-taught musician Ebo Krdum isn’t one to rest on his laurels. He learned to drum at the age of six and built his own guitar as a teenager, before going on to collaborate with United Nations agencies and win a Swedish Grammy.
“‘Umbélé’ tells a story of a conversation between a sad child and their mother. In an effort to comfort the child, the mother suggests playing music (specifically drums) and dancing to make things better,” explains Ebo.
“Essentially, I [was] depicting someone in our current world — amidst all its challenges — where music serves as a beacon of hope and a source of energy to remain positive. I’m happy to see [the track] flying freely, reaching a wider audience,” he adds.
Blending ambient house, future bass, and field recordings, producer-songwriter Henrik Olsson’s music has soundtracked YouTube and TikTok videos with over 13 billion views.
Known to his fans as Ooyy, he’s psyched about the Extra Version series: “It’s such an honor to have Honey Dijon remix one of my favorite tracks of my own!
"The way she gave the track a new life through the rhythm and percussive elements is so special! I feel like it’s such a vibe!”
